Zerodha XIRR Calculator: See Which Decisions Shaped Your Returns
Zerodha Console shows you made money. TrueXIRR shows you which decisions made that money. Upload your tradebook and see the difference.
Why Zerodha Console Doesn't Show the Full Picture
Your Zerodha Console shows you what you made (the P&L number). But it doesn't show you which decisions contributed to that number.
Did your partial exit in Stock A help or hurt your compounding? Did averaging down in Stock B actually improve your returns, or just your comfort? Zerodha's dashboard can't answer these questions because it's built for accounting, not decision analysis.
TrueXIRR calculates XIRR (Extended Internal Rate of Return), which measures your annualized return while accounting for timing. But more importantly, it breaks down your returns by decision: each buy, each sell, each re-entry.
💡 Decision-Aware XIRR
Regular XIRR gives you a number. Decision-Aware XIRR shows you why that number is what it is. It connects your returns to your behavior: where you added capital, where you exited, and whether timing helped or hurt.

Step 1: Download Your Zerodha Tradebook
- Log in to Zerodha Console
- Go to Reports → Tradebook
- Select the date range (we recommend "All time" or at least 1 year)
- Click Download and choose CSV format
⚠️ Important: Tradebook vs P&L Report
Download the Tradebook, not the Tax P&L report. The Tradebook contains individual trades with exact dates and quantities, which is required for accurate XIRR. The Tax P&L only has summarized data per financial year.
📋 What's in a Zerodha Tradebook CSV?
Your downloaded file will contain these columns:
TrueXIRR uses Symbol, Trade Date, Trade Type, Quantity, and Price to calculate per-stock XIRR.
Step 2: Upload to TrueXIRR
- Go to TrueXIRR.com
- Select Zerodha as your broker
- Upload the CSV file you just downloaded
- Your XIRR will be calculated instantly — per stock and portfolio-wide!

Real Example: A Zerodha Portfolio Analyzed
Here's what a typical Zerodha user discovered after uploading their tradebook:
Console showed
+₹45,000 P&L
Looks great!
Actual XIRR
8.2%
Over 3 years of trading
Nifty 50 same period
14.1%
Underperformed by 5.9%
The ₹45K profit looked good, but an index fund would have earned ₹78K in the same period with zero effort.
Is My Data Safe?
Absolutely. TrueXIRR is a client-side application. Your tradebook data is processed entirely in your browser and never leaves your device. We don't store, upload, or have access to your financial data. Unlike some tools that require API access to your Zerodha account, TrueXIRR works with just the CSV file — no Kite Connect API, no login credentials.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I download my Zerodha tradebook?
Log in to Console (console.zerodha.com) → Reports → Tradebook → Select date range → Download CSV. Make sure to download the Tradebook, not the Tax P&L.
Why is my XIRR different from Console P&L?
Console shows absolute profit. XIRR is your annualized return accounting for timing. ₹20K profit on ₹1L over 3 years = 6.3% XIRR, not 20%.
Does Zerodha Console show XIRR?
No. Zerodha Console shows P&L and portfolio value but does not calculate XIRR. You need to export your tradebook and use TrueXIRR or Excel's =XIRR() function.
What about Zerodha Coin (Mutual Funds)?
TrueXIRR currently supports Zerodha equity tradebook. For Coin (MF) XIRR, use our SIP XIRR calculator with your monthly SIP amount and current value.
Is it safe to upload my tradebook?
100% safe. TrueXIRR processes everything in your browser. No data is sent to any server. Unlike tools that need Kite API access, we only read your CSV file locally.
